We have a heartfelt aspiration to bring something truly meaningful to the heart of Central London — the establishment of a beautiful Sakya Community Centre, a place of peace, wisdom, and spiritual growth open to all.
Central London is a global hub, yet it can feel overwhelming and disconnected at times. This Sakya Centre will offer a much-needed oasis of calm and inspiration, a place where the wisdom of ancient teachings meets the challenges of modern life. It will be a centre for learning, meditation, and healing that is open to all.
The Sakya tradition, a form of Tibetan Buddhism, holds profound teachings on the nature of mind. These teachings are not just for Buddhists—they are universal tools to help us navigate life with greater clarity, resilience, and kindness.
Our vision is to create a welcoming space where anyone, regardless of background can come together and find peace. Our goal is to provide:
• A Tranquil Environment: A serene space for meditation and stillness, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
• Opportunities for Reflection: Engage in practices that promote self-discovery and mindfulness.
• Community Connection: Meet and share experiences with others on similar journeys toward inner calm and understanding.
• Universal Teachings: Explore insights from Buddhist philosophy, offering valuable tools for navigating life’s challenges with clarity and compassion.
We are seeking your support to make this dream a reality. Your donations via 'GoFundMe' will help us secure a location, create a serene and sacred environment, and provide resources for teachings and community programs.
No contribution is too small—every gift brings us closer to building this sacred space.
Together, we can create a haven of peace and wisdom in the heart of London.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
May your generosity bring blessings to you and to all sentient beings.
In Buddhism, the practice of giving, known as "dāna," is a fundamental principle rooted in kindness and compassion. Dāna goes beyond material gifts; it includes sharing our time, knowledge, and love with others.
Generosity can manifest in various ways: volunteering your skills, offering a kind thought, or simply being present for someone in need. Each act of generosity helps cultivate a selfless heart, diminishing attachment and ego.
We invite you to join us in this beautiful cycle of kindness. You can support our center by making a donation, saying a prayer, or participating in a puja. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps bring our vision to life.
Thank you for your kindness and support!
The idea for our centre began with our founder, Khenpo Lekshey, who envisioned a Sakya Centre in the heart of London. He shared this inspiration with one of our trustees, who was overjoyed by the suggestion, as she had often struggled to find places open after work while caring for her two children. With the blessing of His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin Kyabgon Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, the foundation of the centre was set in motion, and the trustees were given its name. Now in full planning stage we are looking for a suitable venue and fundraising.
His Holiness Kyabgon Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, known as the Sakya Trichen, served as the 41st head of the Sakya Order of Tibetan Buddhism until March 2017, when his responsibilities were passed to His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, the 42nd Sakya Trizin, formally addressed as His Holiness Kyabgon Gongma Trizin Rinpoche.
A member of Tibet’s noble Khon family, the Sakya Trizin lineage was established in the 11th and 12th centuries, marking the foundation of the Sakya Order. Similar to how His Holiness the Dalai Lama represents the emanation of Avalokiteshvara, embodying the Buddha’s great compassion, His Holiness the Sakya Trichen embodies the Buddha’s transcendent wisdom.
With over fifty years of leadership within the Sakya Order, His Holiness Sakya Trichen is celebrated globally for the brilliance and clarity of his teachings, as well as his fluency and precise command of English. Receiving teachings from him is particularly significant, as it carries a lineage of blessings from the founders of the Sakya Order and from Manjushri himself.
This profound connection is why our center is named Sakya Rigzin Ling, honoring His Holiness and the teachings he represents.
